Best of Writing

"Me and my mom was home. We were woching the golden girls. It was very, very funny!"

"My dad was sad because my dog was bleeting in the tail."

"On that sunny Sunday, me and my mom were going to Manhattan. There was 2 clouds, 1 sun, and 1 house."

"I had a good sleep last night. Ontil a man screemed like this 'aaaawh aaaaawh.' I said in my mind, 'be quiet man. Some people are trying to sleep here.'"

  2. These selections of pieces written by your highly skilled first-graders are outstanding examples of perhaps the Bronx vernacular speech. The students are following in the very hallowed tradition of previous American writers, from Mark Twain to Ring Lardner.

  3. One house and perhaps some apartment buildings? The count for the sun and clouds smacks of credibility.

  4. I think it would be a good college writing assignment for students to construct a short story with one of these as the first sentence!
